Philly Marathon Photos

As usual, I'm still trying to gather my thoughts for my race recap...

In the meantime, I've added links to over 40 recaps from runners, spectators and volunteers on my 20th Anniversary Philadelphia Marathon post. I enjoy reading and sharing stories. If you have a recap, please share your link in the comments and I'll add your post to the list.

Thanks to Island Photography for the race photos. I know that most race photos are ridiculously expensive. I think if companies made digital photos less expensive, more runners would purchase them instead of posting proofs with watermarks. Personally, I don't think it's right to post proofs (or buy race bibs or propose on a race course) but I'll save my rant on my race pet peeves for another post. However, I will include my reaction to literally running into a proposal around mile 25 in my Philly Marathon race recap. ;-)

So, I purchased the digital photo package which was pricey but at least I had 20 photos. Of course, most race photos are taken from the most unflattering angles so I have the dreaded "race face" in most of them except for these three.

Do you purchase race photos? If so, do you purchase digital files or prints? Would you purchase race photos more often if digital files and/or prints were less expensive? Do you post watermarked proofs on your blog, Instagram, Twitter or Facebook? Comments are encouraged and  will be posted after approval.

2013 Gore-Tex Philadelphia Marathon & Half Marathon: 50+ Race Recaps

11/24/2014 UPDATE: 2014 Philly Marathon Race Recaps now posted!

May The 4s Be With You
My 4th Philly Marathon in 4:04:40

I didn't reach my A goal (3:45) or B goal (4:00) but I reached my C goal (FINISH)! More importantly, I enjoyed the process of running this race with Team Lemon to support Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation - even when the last few miles were difficult.

I resonate with what Joan Benoit Samuelson has said, "every race tells a story." I wish it was easier for me to write my race stories, but I will try to gather my thoughts to write a real post about my experience.

Many thanks to all the volunteers and spectators. While I do enjoy the many miles of "solitude" along Kelly Drive, I also appreciated the shout-outs I received  along the course - even when I was being passed. ;-) I also appreciated the virtual support through my social network. I must admit that, against the advice of Mark Remy, I decided to #TweetAndRun when I realized I wasn't going to BQ or PR.

And, special thanks to @armusa for taking my photo!

Did you volunteer, cheer or run the 2013 Philadelphia Marathon, Half Marathon or Rothman 8K? Did you write a race recap or post? If so, please share your experience and/or link in the comments section and I'll add your post to my list below.
